Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern use of the website longrunviana.com and the mobile sauna and cold water immersion services provided by LongRun Viana to customers. By making a booking or using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

Our services

LongRun Viana provides wood-fired mobile sauna and cold water immersion sessions ("Session") of 45 minutes, for groups of up to 6 people, at rotating outdoor locations in the Viana do Castelo area (including but not limited to Cabedelo-Luziamar, Parque da Cidade, and Carreço). We also offer private and corporate group bookings ("Events") through the Groups & Events page.

The exact location of each Session is confirmed after booking and may change day to day depending on conditions, permits, and scheduling.

Age and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to participate. Anyone between 16 and 18 must be accompanied throughout the Session by a responsible adult who accepts full responsibility for their participation. No one under 16 is admitted, for safety reasons related to heat and cold exposure.

Health and your responsibility to disclose

Sauna use and cold water immersion are physically demanding activities. They are not suitable for everyone.

You must not participate if you have any of the following conditions, or if you have any doubt about your fitness to do so:

  • Cardiovascular disease or heart conditions
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Serious respiratory conditions
  • Epilepsy
  • Pregnancy
  • Any condition that may be aggravated by exposure to extreme heat or cold

This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether participation is appropriate for you, consult a doctor before booking.

You are responsible for your own health assessment. By completing a booking, you confirm that you have no condition that makes participation unsafe, and that you have disclosed any relevant health information to us before the Session begins. LongRun Viana relies on the information you provide and cannot be held responsible for health consequences arising from conditions you did not disclose or were unaware of.

We reserve the right to refuse or stop participation by anyone whose apparent physical condition or behaviour presents a risk to themselves or others, with no refund where the refusal is due to non-disclosure or a breach of these Terms.

Assumption of risk

Sauna bathing and cold water immersion carry inherent physical risks, including but not limited to burns, dehydration, dizziness, fainting, slipping, and adverse cardiovascular responses. These risks exist regardless of how the Session is conducted.

By booking a Session, you acknowledge that you understand these risks, that you are voluntarily choosing to participate, and that you accept personal responsibility for your own well-being throughout. You agree to follow all safety instructions given by the LongRun Viana team at all times. Failure to follow those instructions releases us from any liability arising from that failure.

Nothing in these Terms removes LongRun Viana's responsibility for loss or damage caused directly by our own fault or negligence, as required under Portuguese consumer law. However, we are not responsible for harm that results from your own actions, your failure to follow instructions, or health conditions you did not disclose.

Rules of use

These rules exist for safety. Not following them is grounds for removal from the Session with no refund.

  • Remove all jewellery and metal objects before entering the sauna.
  • Always sit on a towel for hygiene.
  • Shower before cold water immersion.
  • Wear non-slip footwear at all times near water and around the sauna structure.
  • No phones inside the sauna.
  • Follow the team's instructions on the duration of each heat and cold round. Do not extend rounds beyond what is indicated.
  • Do not approach the wood-burning stove beyond the area indicated by the team.
  • Do not participate if you have consumed alcohol or any substance before or during the Session. Anyone appearing to be under the influence will be refused entry or asked to leave, with no refund.

Bookings and payment

All bookings are made through our website with full payment at the time of booking, using the payment methods available at checkout. A confirmation email is sent once payment is processed.

Cancellations, changes, and no-shows

By you:

  • Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the Session: full refund or credit note valid for 12 months, at your choice.
  • Date or time changes: accepted up to 24 hours before the Session, subject to availability. Contact us at geral@longrunviana.com.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the Session, or failure to show up: no refund.

By us:

If we cancel a Session due to adverse weather conditions, safety concerns, or any other circumstance beyond our reasonable control, we will offer a full reschedule or a full refund. That is the limit of our liability in those cases; we are not responsible for travel costs, accommodation, or any other expenses you may have incurred.

Right of withdrawal

Under Article 17(1)(k) of Decree-Law 24/2014, the standard 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to leisure services booked for a specific date and time. Our cancellation policy above applies instead.

Group and event bookings

Requests submitted through the Groups & Events page are subject to availability and a specific quote sent by email. The person making the group booking is responsible for ensuring that every participant has read and accepted these Terms before the Session takes place. LongRun Viana is not liable for harm arising from participants who were not informed of these Terms by the group organiser.

Force majeure

LongRun Viana is not responsible for failure to deliver a Session due to circumstances outside our reasonable control, including extreme weather, natural events, government restrictions, or any other force majeure event.

Personal data

We process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Portuguese law. Data collected at booking (name, email, phone, and any health information you voluntarily provide) is used solely to manage your booking, communicate about the service, and meet legal obligations. It is not shared with third parties for marketing without your explicit consent.

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data at any time by contacting us at geral@longrunviana.com.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when published on this page. The version in force at the time of your booking is the one that applies to that booking.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any dispute arising from them falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Viana do Castelo. As a consumer, you also have the right to use an alternative dispute resolution body, such as CICAP (Centro de Informação de Consumo e Arbitragem do Porto) or another competent ADR entity.
